Who we are?

The FMPZ is run on a non-profit basis by an Executive Committee elected by its members

Mission Statement

The association’s mission is to be the voice of the printing, packaging and newspaper industry in Zimbabwe, effectively serving its members in all areas of growth, human resource development, information dissemination and advocacy including assisting in developing a legislative agenda that serves the purposes of its members.

Vision

The FMPZ’s vision is to be a professional organisation that supports and develops the Printing, Packaging and Newspaper industry in Zimbabwe to world class standards.
Members & Employees
To regulate the relations between members and their employees to protect and further the interest of members in matters relating to employment.
To promote the interests of apprentices, to encourage practical and technical training, to encourage every effort through apprenticeship to turn out efficient craftsmen and operatives in the industry.
To secure unity and co-operation in dealing with organised bodies, trade unions, and individuals on matters affecting all or any employees in the industry.
To co-operate with any trade union, association, federation, institutions in the furtherance of the objectives of the association and the interests of employers. To conclude a national collective wage / salary agreement as it may consider advisable, settling the conditions of employment of all employees engaged in the industry.
To promote the interests of its members.
To encourage the settlement of disputes by conciliatory methods. To promote, support and provide constructive comment when proposed changes of legislation to existing laws are made known. To play an active role in the crafting of legislation affecting the printing, packaging and newspaper industry. To encourage recognition of standard conditions as contained in the NEC Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Objectives

The objectives of the federation as set out in its constitution are as follows:

Association

The Federation of Printing, Packaging and Newspaper Proprietors of Zimbabwe otherwise known as FMPZ has been registered as an employers association since 1959.

Membership Base

Membership to the association is open to all employers registered with the NEC of the Printing, Packaging and Newspaper Industry and includes the following trades and processes:

  • Rubber-stamp making
  • Corrugated board and container machine operating
  • Lithography
  • Liquid Packaging

  • Engraving and die sinking
  • Envelope machine operating
  • Platemaking
  • Laminating and coating
  • Letterpress machine minding
